Newfoundland

The Newfoundland is a breed known for its impressive size and gentle demeanor, perfect for families and individuals seeking a loyal companion. Originating from the rugged terrain of Newfoundland, Canada, this breed has a rich history as a working dog, often assisting fishermen and performing water rescues. Their warm and affectionate nature makes them excellent family pets, especially around young children, as they are typically very patient and protective.

While Newfoundlands are not the most suited for tiny living spaces due to their size, they thrive in homes where they have space to move around and play. Their moderate energy levels mean they enjoy regular walks and playtime, but they are equally content to lounge around with their loved ones. Grooming is part of the routine for these beautiful dogs, requiring weekly brushing to manage their shedding, which is on the higher side.

When it comes to training, Newfoundlands are generally intelligent and eager to please, allowing for a decent level of trainability. They have a calm barking tendency, which means they do not frequently vocalize, making them more suitable for quieter environments. If you are looking for a loving and gentle giant to join your family in Petland Fairfield, Ohio, a Newfoundland might just be the perfect match for you.
