Saint Bernard

The Saint Bernard is a gentle giant with a rich history rooted in the Swiss Alps, originally bred by monks to rescue travelers in distress. With their warm and friendly demeanor, these dogs have become beloved family companions known for their affectionate nature, making them a perfect fit for families, especially those with young children. They typically get along well with other dogs and are generally good with cats, creating an inclusive environment for all pets.

Despite their large size, Saint Bernards are known for their calm energy levels, requiring moderate exercise to keep them happy and healthy. A daily walk or some playful time in the yard will suffice, making them suitable for homes that may not have sprawling spaces. While they are not the most active breed, their loving nature shines through during families' interactions, where they can truly shine as loyal companions.

Grooming these beautiful dogs is manageable, as a weekly brushing will keep their coats looking their best, though they can shed a fair amount. Their trainability is moderate; consistent training and positive reinforcement work well with these intelligent and eager-to-please dogs. At Petland Fairfield, Ohio, we believe that welcoming a Saint Bernard into your home means inviting a loyal friend who embodies love and warmth.
